This fountain pen is handcrafted from Amboyna burl (Pterocarpus indicus), one of the most expressive and sought-after figured woods used for fine turned objects. The material is defined by its intense burl pattern, where small eyes, swirling fibres, and layered golden-brown movement create a surface that changes continuously with the light. Rather than following a straight grain, the wood seems to gather and turn within itself, giving the pen a warm, organic energy.
The body combines honey, amber, and reddish-brown tones, with darker accents appearing naturally inside the figure. The polished finish enhances this depth without hiding the character of the wood, allowing the burl structure to remain the central visual element. Its rounded silhouette softens the complexity of the material and gives the piece a calm, tactile presence in the hand.
The pen is fitted with a gold-plated Bock No. 6 nib, paired with satin metal components that create a clear contrast between the warm Amboyna body and the precise, functional writing assembly.
