The First One Hundred
No. 46 - Points
Handcrafted from Peroba Rosa Salmon wood, this LIGNORAE fountain pen explores the relationship between minimalist geometry and organic texture. Hundreds of individually carved impressions transform its surface into a tactile landscape, creating a subtle interplay of light and shadow. Its warm, natural tones contrast with the understated silver-coloured metal fittings, resulting in a sculptural writing instrument designed to be both admired and experienced through touch.

Material, surface and intention.
A sculpture meant to be held. Crafted from Peroba Rosa Salmon (Aspidosperma polyneuron), this fountain pen transforms a traditional writing instrument into an exploration of material, texture, and form. Its elongated silhouette follows a deliberately minimalist geometry, allowing the natural warmth of the wood and the complexity of its surface to become the defining elements of the composition.
Hundreds of small, individually carved depressions create an irregular, almost mineral-like relief across the wooden surface. Each impression catches the light differently, producing a constantly shifting interplay of highlights and shadows. Inspired by the expressive possibilities of traditional hand-carving, this tactile treatment celebrates controlled imperfection, where the marks left by the artisan become an essential part of the object's identity.
Beyond its visual character, the textured surface introduces a distinctive relationship between the instrument and its owner. Designed to be touched and handled, the wood may gradually develop subtle changes in its surface character through years of use. The fountain pen becomes more than a finished object: it becomes a personal companion, carrying the traces of time, movement, and human contact.
Handcrafted in the LIGNORAE atelier in Munich, Germany, this creation combines sculptural craftsmanship with the precision of German writing technology. Equipped with a Bock No. 6 nib and a Schmidt K5 converter, it offers the functionality of a refined writing instrument within an unconventional artistic form. Presented in the signature LIGNORAE Cocoon, crafted from natural wood, it embodies a simple philosophy: an object of art should not merely be observed, but lived with.
