The First One Hundred
No. 48 - Spiral
A bold expression of sculptural freedom, this LIGNORAE fountain pen transforms Peroba Rosa Salmon wood into a flowing composition of curves, asymmetry, and unexpected geometry. Its hand-carved silhouette moves between sharp architectural lines and softly sculpted depressions, creating an extraordinary dialogue between form, material, and touch. Warm amber, salmon, and golden tones follow the natural grain, while the contrasting silver-coloured fittings and golden nib introduce a contemporary elegance. More than a writing instrument, it is a miniature sculpture designed to become part of its owner's everyday life.

Material, surface and intention.
When sculpture becomes an instrument of expression. There is something profoundly liberating about abandoning the symmetry of conventional design. Handcrafted from Peroba Rosa Salmon (Aspidosperma polyneuron), this LIGNORAE creation challenges the traditional silhouette of a fountain pen through an unconventional exploration of volume, movement, and proportion. Its body rises and falls in carefully sculpted transitions, alternating between angular edges, elongated planes, and gentle concavities. The result is a composition that appears almost fluid, as though the wood itself had been caught in the middle of a transformation.
A dialogue between the artist's hand and the material's natural character. Every surface has been individually shaped to create a continuous interplay of light, shadow, and tactile sensation. The sculpted depressions invite the fingers to explore the object, while its subtly twisted geometry reveals different silhouettes from every viewing angle. The remarkable colour variations of Peroba Rosa Salmon, ranging from golden honey to deep reddish amber, further accentuate this sense of movement. Its natural grain follows the sculptural contours, becoming an integral part of the composition rather than merely a decorative feature.
Artistic freedom, supported by German precision. Behind its unconventional appearance lies the carefully considered functionality of a refined writing instrument. A gold-coloured Bock No. 6 nib provides the writing experience, complemented by a Schmidt K5 ink converter, both representing the quality of German manufacturing. The polished, silver-coloured metal section introduces a deliberate architectural contrast, separating the organic warmth of the wood from the mechanical precision of the writing mechanism. Here, sculpture and engineering coexist without compromising one another.
An object that continues to evolve beyond the hands of its creator. Entirely handcrafted in the LIGNORAE atelier in Munich, this fountain pen embodies a philosophy inspired by the essential relationship between material, form, and human experience. Its sculptural surfaces are intended not only to be admired but also to be touched, held, and gradually familiarised with the movements of their owner. Presented in the signature LIGNORAE wooden Cocoon, it becomes an intimate expression of individuality, where the boundaries between functional design and contemporary sculpture quietly disappear. Because the most meaningful objects are not simply those we possess, but those that become part of who we are.
